Are We Destined to Be Enemies? US-Russian Relations in Historical Perspective

Pietro Shakarian, PhD Candidate in History at the Ohio State University, will discuss US-Russian relations, specifically focusing on the end of the Cold War, the subsequent developments in Russia that led to Putin's rise and to the current tension in US-Russian relations.  Reagan-Gorbachev détente, NATO expansion, and differing interpretations about the ways in which the Cold War ended will also be discussed.
